have an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio, and pound for-
pound are stronger than steel in the lengthwise direction.
They are stronger and have a higher flexural strength than
timber, so you can depend on them for maximum load bearing
capacity. The hollow center is useful as a channel for
downspouts, wiring and plumbing. These columns are impact
resistant and will not permanently deform under impact.
